Interim Director

608.263.2722An associate professor of social work at UW-Eau Claire, will be interim director of OPID for the next two years beginning in early August. She joined the UW-Eau Claire faculty in 2001, and in that position, directly benefited from the services and professional development opportunities offered by OPID. She looks forward to continuing OPID’s strong collaborations and reputation for excellence developed during Lisa Kornetsky’s tenure as director. La Vonne appreciates UW System’s commitment to purposeful teaching and learning across its institutions and is excited to support the new initiatives and action steps that emerged through the recent UW System strategic planning process.
La Vonne has many years of social work practice and administrative experience in the fields of child and family services. She holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from UW-Whitewater and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Oklahoma. She earned her Ph. D. in cultural and linguistic anthropology from UW-Milwaukee in 2001. Her hobbies include spending time outdoors with her family biking and swimming. She also enjoys reading and gardening.
